Three months into 2023 and we’re finally in spring! Gone are the freezing temps, lack of sunlight, and dried-out complexions. Instead we’re embracing everything the new season and warmer weather have to offer, including sunnier days, fresh flowers, and new VANA Boxes *wink*
As we encounter these changes, we’re preparing for a big one ourselves: the spring skincare regimen. We’re sharing our guide for transitioning your winter routine to one more suitable for the springtime, in order to keep your complexion healthy and glowing amidst the change in season. Keep scrolling to discover the necessary steps to take for crafting the perfect spring routine.
1. Swap to a gel cleanser
As the weather starts to heat up, change up your skincare textures to avoid overwhelming your skin. A cream cleanser may provide that much-needed moisturization during the winter months, but can be too heavy for the spring. Swap in a gel cleanser to make sure your skin gets that refreshing cleanse without being weighed down.

5 types of Ceramides mingle with a proprietary AQUATIDE ingredient to form the CELIMAX Dual Barrier Mild Gel Cleanser, a gem for those struggling with a weak skin barrier. Hand in hand, they repair the skin barrier to increase moisture retention and protection against environmental aggressors. The formula is of a low pH to keep the skin in a healthy, stable state.
2. Change your moisturizer
Similar to the change you’re making with your cleanser, you’ll want to consider the texture of your moisturizer and change it up according to what your skin needs. If you’re finding that your thicker creams are too hydrating as the weather gets hotter and more humid, tag in a lightweight cream or gel texture to get your quench. This will keep your skin sufficiently hydrated without exacerbating sebum overproduction.

The PURITO Oat-In Calming Gel Cream takes 77% Oat Seed Water, Squalane, and Panthenol to gently soothe irritated skin while hydrating the skin, locking in moisture, and boosting elasticity; the result is a nourished complexion that is plump and bouncy. This option is ideal for anyone tackling skin sensitivity, inflammation, or moisture loss.
3. Carve out time for self care
When you’re working hard and busy with school, work, or other endeavors, it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself. While it’s definitely a treat, self care isn’t just about the full day retreats at the spa - it also includes the weekly 5-20 minute treatments you can incorporate into your routine to look and feel rejuvenated.

The MARY&MAY Blackberry Complex Glow Wash Off Pack launched this year as an extension of their mask collection, and it’s a release that is highly underrated. Look into its ingredients list and you’ll spot antioxidant-rich Blackberry extract and impurity-absorbing Canadian Glacial Soil. This clay mask gets rid of waste in the pores, leading to soft and bouncy baby-like skin in just 10 minutes.
4. Declutter expired products
Before you actually proceed with your skincare routine, you’ll want to do an audit of your collection and toss anything that’s past its best-by date. Oftentimes we forget to do this and unknowingly continue to use expired products, which brings about more harm to your skin than good. Check the back or bottom of your skincare products for its expiry date and discard if that date has passed. It’s the perfect opportunity to reinvent your collection and introduce some new items into the mix.

Has the change in weather thrown your complexion for a loop? Nurse it back to health with the Torriden Balanceful Cica Serum, an intensive calming booster containing a T-Percent Calming Complex that’s made up of 5 types of Cica extracts. It’s developed for oily, combination, and sensitive skin to combat skin troubles that arise as a result of excessive sebum, addressing concerns at their core rather than merely offering temporary relief.
5. Don't forget SPF
A solid rule to always live by: no matter the season, rain or shine, SPF is a non-negotiable. We talk about this so often you’d have to be living under a rock to not know why at this point, but we’re happy to give the quick rundown: UV damage aggravates skin concerns like fine lines, dryness, a weakened skin barrier, and hyperpigmentation. Avoid all these issues by adding a trusty sunscreen to your day routine, and pick up a sun stick for easy reapplication throughout the day.

If you face the dilemma of sacrificing SPF for makeup primer or vice versa, you’ve just come across your ultimate solution. The MARY&MAY Vegan Primer Glow Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++ is a triple threat perfect for the job: with Cherry, Pomegranate, and Peach Kombucha extracts, it shields the skin from UV rays, provides a healthy, tone-up finish, and acts as a makeup primer for ultra-smooth makeup application.
